Norton County Community Foundation, an Affiliate of Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation, is proud to invite all Norton County High School (USD 211) graduating seniors or former NCHS students in good standing at his/her respective vocational/technical, university or college to apply for the Della Connell Scholarship. The Della Connell Scholarship was established in 2017 in memory of Della Connell who grew up in Clayton, Kansas as the oldest of four girls. She later married Ben, her husband of 70 years, and together they raised their son Donald on the family farm east of Norcatur. In September 2001, they moved into the Andbe Home where Ben passed away in November 2001. Della remained in the Andbe Home until her death in 2015 at the age of 103. When she passed, Della left a gift to support the Norton schools, and the Della Connell Scholarship was formed.

FAQs

Your questions answered

Community foundations have a simple mission with many moving parts. We aim to answer the most common questions people have here.

Can I send a physical application as opposed to an online one?

All applications must be completed online. Paper copies are not accepted.

Applicants will be required to complete an eligibility quiz at first logon to determine which scholarships they are eligible to apply.

Do NOT use your high school email address.  The email address used in the application will be the primary contact method throughout college if you receive a scholarship award.  If needed, create a personal email account in gmail, yahoo, etc. for permanent personal use.

Verify that your references are willing to provide a POSITIVE reference for you prior to listing them as a reference.  You will need their email address to enter into the application.

Let your personality shine and be thorough in your answers.  Your responses are key to the award selection process.

Once you are awarded a scholarship, you must login to the scholarship portal to complete the required follow up steps. Before the first scholarship payment can be released, you must:

  1. Accept the scholarship agreement.
  2. Provide a copy of your upcoming course schedule.

If your scholarship is for multiple semesters, at the end of each semester you will need to login to the scholarship portal to provide  your current cumulative GPA and upcoming course schedule before the next scholarship payment can be released.

GNWKCF ensures each scholarship fund establishing documents are carefully followed. Students must meet the minimum scholarship criteria at the time of enrollment or the awarded scholarship will be forfeited.

Failure to complete the follow up steps may result in forfeit of your scholarship.
