Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation is proud to invite all Norton Community High School graduating seniors to apply for the NCHS Alumni Association Scholarship.  This scholarship, established by the NCHS Alumni Association, is made available to USD 211 - NCHS graduating seniors who wish to continue their education but need some financial assistance in doing so.  Applicants must be a student in good standing at NCHS to be considered. The Mission of the NCHS Alumni Association is to foster alumni contact with one another, maintain contact information for graduating class members, and provide a gathering/ reunion each year of all classes or as desired by the Association membership. In addition to overseeing plans for the All Class Reunion this Association will also be responsible for awarding the NCHS Alumni Scholarship. The selection committee is the current officers of the NCHS Alumni Association. The committee may opt to hold interviews prior to selection.

CRITERIA:

  • Must be planning to attend a two year community college, 4 year university, or a vocational college.
  • 3 letters of recommendation from non-family members (one being a teacher).
  • Financial need clearly expressed in the application.
  • Active participation in school and community activities.
  • Recipients will be required to give a progress report in person or via video at class reunion events.

RENEWALS: This award is not renewable.

Can I send a physical application as opposed to an online one?

All applications must be completed online. Paper copies are not accepted.

How will I know if I'm eligable?

Applicants will be required to complete an eligibility quiz at first logon to determine which scholarships they are eligible to apply.

Can I use my high school email address?

Do NOT use your high school email address.  The email address used in the application will be the primary contact method throughout college if you receive a scholarship award.  If needed, create a personal email account in gmail, yahoo, etc. for permanent personal use.

What are the requirements for references?

Verify that your references are willing to provide a POSITIVE reference for you prior to listing them as a reference.  You will need their email address to enter into the application.

How should I approach my answers?

Let your personality shine and be thorough in your answers.  Your responses are key to the award selection process.

What happens if my application is accepted?

Once you are awarded a scholarship, you must login to the scholarship portal to complete the required follow up steps. Before the first scholarship payment can be released, you must:

  1. Accept the scholarship agreement.
  2. Provide a copy of your upcoming course schedule.

What if my scholarship is for multiple semesters?

If your scholarship is for multiple semesters, at the end of each semester you will need to login to the scholarship portal to provide  your current cumulative GPA and upcoming course schedule before the next scholarship payment can be released.

What happens if I fail to meet the minimum scholarship criteria?

GNWKCF ensures each scholarship fund establishing documents are carefully followed. Students must meet the minimum scholarship criteria at the time of enrollment or the awarded scholarship will be forfeited.

What happens if I fail to complete the follow up steps?

Failure to complete the follow up steps may result in forfeit of your scholarship.
